PAWS IN THE PARK...

DOG WALK-A-THON -

2007 - 2008 - 2009

Prairie Paws Rescue wants to thank everyone who came to our Dog Walk-A-Thon again this year.  Your wonderful participation has made it an annual event!

2007:  Thanks to so many participants, our first Paws in the Park Dog Walk-A-Thon was a great success!   Dogs from all over the county arrived with their best friends in tow... men, women, children, babies... all happy to have a chance to meet other dogs and dog-lovers.  Vibrant dog-talk flowed continuously... stories about special dog-friends, facts about health care, good grooming tips, effective doggy diets (and human diets, too!), characteristics of a good vet, traveling tips... People-education took place on a grand scale while their furry friends looked on and enjoyed the show and the wonderful companionship of like-souls.  It was a SPECTACULAR day!

2008:  The second annual "Paws in the Park" took place on Sunday, September 21, 2008, from 1-4pm at McElroy Park.

Thanks to so many participants last year, our first Paws in the Park Dog Walk-A-Thon was a great success, and this year's event was even bigger and better!  All kinds of dog activities and demonstrations took place. There was an exhilarating dog walk with two trails.  Dogs held out their paws and got their nails clipped. And, informative demonstrations from Stacey Collins with agility-dog Rilee, Great Plains Guide dogs of Jud, and Jamestown Police Department's new K-9 dog took place.  Each registrant received a dog-oriented goodie bag which was enjoyed by all.  Thanks to public support for fundraisers such as this, Prairie Paws Rescue can continue to save animals-in-need from threatening circumstances.

Another Great PAWS IN THE PARK Event!

September 20, 2009: 1-4pm

PAWS IN THE PARK.... Our 3rd Annual dog walk took place on September 20th, 2009!   All kinds of interesting, informative and fun activities took place throughout the afternoon at McElroy Park.  There were Agility and Dog Obedience demonstrations, Red Cross Pet First Aid & CPR demonstrations, vendors, food booths, raffles, door prizes and more...  It was fascinating to see such a large variety of dogs of all sizes, colors and shapes getting along so well together.  They walked proudly with their owners around the park, sat with them during the demonstrations, and even did some "paw printing" that will most likely go on the frig at home!  All in all, it was a great day, and we're hoping that our rescued pups (like Macho in the picture below) will find a forever home.  A HUGE THANKS to everyone who participated!

How You Can Help

If you would like to help an animal in the care of Prairie Paws Rescue, please contact us. You don't have to be a foster home to help. You can help by spreading the word about our group of rescuers, provide transportation, take animals to vet appointments, collect items for the pets like blankets, toys, puppy & kitten chow, pet carriers, dog and cat beds, and high quality food for proper nutrition. Also, cash donations are greatly appreciated to help with medical expenses like updated shots, wormer, and spaying and neutering costs. We want to ensure that the animals have a healthy start on a new life.

Volunteers are welcome!
